Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description

A silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inch in height blazoned as follows: Per pale Argent and Sanguine, a bluebonnet palewise Azure, leaves in base Argent (Silver Gray), intertwined by two serpents Vert.  Attached below a blue scroll, doubled maroon, inscribed “BRAVERY AND SACRIFICE” in silver letters.

Symbolism

White and maroon are colors associated with Army medical units.  The Bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas.  The flower is intertwined with two serpents to portray the caduceus, an international symbol of the medical field.  Furthermore, the serpents’ green color points to the unit’s historical base in Newmarket, Suffolk during World War II.

Background

A distinctive unit Insignia was approved for the 805th Hospital Center on 8 December 2022.
